A summer to remember; At Home Farm

by Alice Darby, Manager - Home Farm Glamping

I don't know about you, but I feel like I've blinked and we're suddenly in July. This week marks the halfway point of our glamping season, and despite the spring throwing frost, mud and heatwaves at us, it's been a pleasure to see so many smiling and grateful faces enjoying precious time away from stress and screens. Here’s what’s been going on, including lots of good news and what we still have to come…

Planting the seed for low season

With the summer fast slipping through our fingers, I'm busy working on some exciting plans to rewild some of the land on the Aldenham Estate, where Home Farm sits. Preserving and growing the green spaces we are blessed with for future generations to come is close to mine and Jess' hearts and we look forward to involving the community in these plans. We have an ambitious tree-planting project, as well as woodland regenerating and hedgerow planting going ahead this autumn and are looking forward to sharing this journey with you. More to come, so stay tuned! Sign up to receive our regular newsletters if you haven’t already done so.

Live Outdoor Events On London’s Doorstep

If there was ever a year to put on a show it was this one, so this season we took the plunge and turned a dream of Jess’ (the founder and owner of Home Farm Glamping) into reality by launching our events brand known as At Home Farm (@athomefarmlive).

Our magical woodland stage, built largely by our talented onsite handyman Ben, has so far been graced by folk/indie royalty James Bay and Jack Garratt as well as bicycle-powered theatre production group The Handlebards. We have been blown away by your appetite to escape your towns and cities for a few precious and unique hours in the great outdoors and still have plenty more for you to look forward to…

Family fun during the summer holidays

Bushcraft, bat walks, nature trails and picnics

With only a few weeks until the schools break fully for summer, we know a few parents who have suddenly realised this summer is looking a little sparse for family entertainment. Don't worry, we have you covered. With Bushcraft workshops hosted by Wilderness Foundation, bat walks and nature trails with Herts Wildlife Trust, magical Rogue Theatre shows, archery classes and the Brambly Hedge picnic (tickets coming on sale next week!), we have plenty to keep the little ones entertained this summer. Head to our what’s on page to plan your day visit to Home Farm.

Simple pleasures away from tech and screens in our main glamping meadow

Last-minute glamping breaks this summer

Escape London and the Home Counties to our rural estate

While we have less than 10% availability left during the school holidays, you’ll find some cheeky one and two night stays mainly midweek. There’s more choice in September too. Book your glamping stay only 13 miles from London at Home Farm. If you can’t find the date you’d like join our waiting list and we’ll get in touch if a cancellation comes up.

We look forward to welcoming all who are staying this summer - see you soon!
